How do I pay for my Session?
You can pay with cash at the photo shoot, or I can send you an invoice with a link to pay online directly after the shoot. Please add 5.75% sales tax if paying with cash.
When will I receive my photos?
You will receive your personal gallery within two weeks after the photo shoot. Once I send the notification email that your personal Gallery is ready for viewing, you have 2 weeks to select your images. I offer high quality prints, photo canvases, prints on metal or digital downloads. First let me know which images you have selected, then you can purchase prints through my online store which is linked to your Personal Gallery, and/or digitally download them.
Do you offer retouching?
Yes, all my photo packages include complimentary light retouching of the skin, teeth and eye brightening, fly-away hair removal and acne removal. I do not offer wrinkle removal for clothing, body modification or other alterations to hair.
Can I order prints of my photos through you?
Yes, I use the highest quality professional printing service for photography. You want a professional printing service for accurate colors and photo quality or your images will not look like they do on screen. I offer photo prints, photo canvases and metal prints in a variety of sizes. After you have made your final image selections, go to the Shop section of your personal Gallery page to order.
What is the best time of day for photos?
If you want outdoor photos, the best lighting of the day is 1 hour before sunset. This is called the golden hour and the light quality is the best then. To calculate the golden hour for a specific day, you can visit https://sunrise-sunset.org/us/
For indoor photos, the best lighting is between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.
Where are you located?
I live in Strongsville and offer services in a 20 mile radius from there. If you would like photos in a location beyond that distance there will be an additional fee based on the time and mileage involved.
When should I book my Newborn Session?
You will want to schedule within the first 2 weeks after baby’s arrival. Babies are at their sleepiest state, often sleeping 16 hours a day. After the first couple weeks newborns start becoming more alert and awake with each day that passes. Also, the two-week mark is right before the onset of baby acne. Even with the best editing software, it’s tough to edit baby acne so it’s a better set of photos if you catch them before any acne or bumps start forming.
When should I book my High School Senior Pictures?
The best time to book your high school senior pictures is the summer before your senior year. This will allow time to plan your session and ensure you get a spot in my schedule. Peak season is July-October, but we can create beautiful senior pictures during any season!
When should I book my Maternity Session?
Most clients schedule their photo session at between 32 and 34 weeks. It all depends on how much you’re showing and which phase of pregnancy you’d like to capture.
Do you offer Mini Sessions?
Yes, I offer a variety of mini-sessions periodically throughout the year and Headshot photography is available year round.
Do you do weddings?
Yes, but as a natural light photographer there are some limitations for wedding photography. The church or interior space needs to be well lit, with windows. The best time for indoor natural light photography is between 10-1 pm, but I can still work with the light a few hours after that. I am not able to offer photography services after sunset as that requires a flash and I just don’t like how flash photography flattens and makes images look artificial. Sure, I’d love to give recommendations on planning your outfit(s) for the photo shoot. I also include a Prep-Guide with some suggestions in my Appointment Confirmation email when you schedule. If you have questions, send me an email at katiescalmato@gmail.com
I want photos with my pet!
I love animals and many of my locations are pet friendly, though all require them to be leashed. Please check my Location Guide before scheduling. Depending on session length and season, you may want to leave your pet in the car for a portion of the session, or bring someone along to be their ‘handler,’ – unless you would like photos with your pet for the full session!
