Best time to schedule outdoor Maternity Photos: Golden hour, the hour before sunset.
Congratulations on your coming baby!
Most clients schedule their photo session at between 32 and 34 weeks. It all depends on how much you’re showing and which phase of pregnancy you’d like to capture. I recommend not scheduling too close to your due date, for obvious reasons like babies having their own timeline! Maternity sessions don’t have to be during the above time range. It could be a pregnancy announcement or gender reveal session, or both! I’m happy to offer a discount if you would like to schedule multiple maternity sessions.
You will want to schedule an evening session, 1-2 hours before sunset to get the best possible outdoor light. Feel free to bring any props you’d like to include. Some clients will bring an ultrasound photo, blanket, letterboard, chalkboard, special baby outfit, baby shoes etc. Your gallery will be ready within 2 weeks of the photo session. I try to work as quickly as possible so that you get the photos back well before baby arrives!
What to wear? Your clothing should reflect your personality and be something you feel comfortable in. Typically, pastel or neutral colors such as white, cream, peach beige, grays or blues photograph well. Also think about the season you are being photographed in. You will want to wear a solid color, and your significant other should wear a complimentary color to your outfit. Texture looks amazing in photos and will improve the quality of your images. Add texture with your clothing by selecting flowing fabrics like chiffon or crepe or velvet, lace, knit and ribbed cotton for visual interest. Also think about silhouettes; empire and mermaid styles will showcase your bump and make a very flattering shape.

In-Home Newborn Photography
In-home lifestyle newborn photography offers a relaxed documentary style for portraits, using natural light. I’ll bring a beautiful woven bassinet and several textured blankets but you are free to use your own swaddles and have as many clothing changes for baby as you would like.
Schedule between 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM for the best lighting.
In-Studio Newborn Photography
Capture gorgeous photos at any time of day with an in-studio photo shoot. I use a studio located in Medina and there is an additional session fee of $60 for sessions scheduled here.
I have a lifestyle/documentary style approach for family portraits but will also pose baby in a beautiful bassinet, tiny bed and wooden bowl. You may bring your own swaddles and have as many clothing changes for baby as you would like.
Milestones Photography – Outdoor or in-studio
From the first smile to those first steps, photography doesn’t stop at the newborn stage. My milestones photography sessions preserve every magical moment as your baby grows.
